The Roanoke Public Libraries
Summer Reading Program has begun!

The Roanoke Public Libraries offer an entertaining, educational, free and noncompetitive Summer Reading Program. We hope you will take part in this exciting program. This year our theme for the children is “Catch the Reading Bug.” The program is sponsored by The Library of Virginia and the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act. All Virginia public libraries participate in this statewide effort to encourage young people and their families to continue reading during the summer break from school.

The activities offered by the library this summer include a variety of fun and educational experiences that serve as a reward for those who participate. We encourage parents or older siblings to read aloud to each other, as well as to non-reading members of the family.

We thank you for your support of and participation in our 2008 Summer Reading Program. For more information, please call the Youth Services Department at 853-2955.
