Bicycle Friendly Community

In May 2010, the City of Roanoke received the coveted designation of “Bicycle Friendly Community” from the League of American Bicyclists. The award is based on an audit that looks at factors like engineering, education, and planning efforts related to cycling. Roanoke received a bronze-level designation, which will be reviewed after four years. The League of American Bicyclists will continue to provide the city with feedback on how it can improve.
