PEDESTRIAN STRUCK, KILLED IN 1400 BLOCK OF ORANGE AVENUE NW

Roanoke, Va.- On May 31, 2017 at 9:17 pm officers responded to the 1400 block of Orange Avenue NW after a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.  The victim, later identified as Tameshia Nichole Leftwich-Davis, age 45, of Roanoke, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Roanoke Fire EMS personnel. Members of the police department's traffic fatality investigation team responded. The area of roadway where the incident took place was closed until approximately 2 am.  At this time, witness statements and physical evidence indicates the victim stepped out in front of an eastbound  Honda van. The victim was struck by the van, causing her to go into the westbound traffic lanes where she was struck by a Ford Taurus. Both drivers stopped at the scene.  At this time, there's no evidence that either driver was impaired.  The victim was taken to the Medical Examiner's Office. The investigation is ongoing.

ROANOKE POLICE INVESTIGATE MURDER IN 2300 BLOCK OF TUCKAWANA NW

Roanoke, Va.- On Thursday June 15, 2017 at 12:18 am, Roanoke Police responded to the 2300 Block of Tuckawana Circle N.W. in reference to a call of shots fired. On arrival officers located a male with gunshot wounds lying behind the building. The male was identified as Nickalas Nathaniel Lee, age 17 of Roanoke. Roanoke Fire EMS transported Lee to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 1:13 a.m. There has been no arrests made at this time. The investigation is ongoing. ROANOKE POLICE INVESTIGATE ROBBERY AT SPEEDWAY MART IN 2100 BLOCK OF ORANGE AVENUE NE

Roanoke, Va.- On June 26, 2017 at 1:34 am, Roanoke Police responded to the 2100 block of Orange Avenue NE, the Speedway Mart, to investigate a report of a robbery.  Three suspects entered the store wearing masks.  One of the suspects pointed what appeared to be a handgun at a store clerk and demanded money.  After taking cash from the register, all three suspects ran out of the store.  No one was hurt during the incident.  The suspects match the description of the suspects who robbed the Shell station in the 2900 block of Edgewood Street SW on June 24th.  No one was hurt in that incident either.   The pictures attached are of all three suspects from Speedway Mart robbery.  Anyone with information is encouraged to call the RPD tip line at 540-344-8500.  Callers can choose to remain anonymous.  Anonymous text messages can be sent to 274637.  Please start any text message with the keyword "RoanokePD:" to ensure that it's properly sent.
