INNOVATIVE COLLISION REPORTING CENTER IS THE FIRST OF ITS KIND IN THE NATION

Roanoke, Va: Officers will begin making referrals to the new Collision Reporting Center at 631 Abney Road in Roanoke County. At this time, referrals will only be made for minor crashes. Officers will still respond to fender-benders in order to check for any injuries. The officer will then conduct a screening process to see if the crash meets the requirements of a referral.

Crashes involving alcohol, drugs, injuries, and reckless driving will be investigated by officers and will not be eligible for referral. If no one was hurt, both drivers involved are not suspended, both vehicles do not need to be towed, and both parties agree, then the officer will refer both drivers to the center.

The Collision Reporting Center is very advantageous in that it's essentially "one-stop shopping" for folks involved in a minor crash. CRC employees will be on hand to take pictures and help fill out paperwork, meaning the process with each driver's insurance company will be much faster than if an officer investigated and filled out a report. If you have any questions about the CRC please email us at police@roanokeva.gov.

The Roanoke County Police Department and Virginia State Police will also make referrals to the center for minor crashes in the City of Roanoke and Roanoke County.

Crashes involving hazardous materials, city or county vehicles, and involving pedestrians or bicyclists are also among those not eligible for referral.
