Garden City Greenway

Project Description:
The Garden City Greenway provides the first pedestrian/bicycle connection from Garden City to the existing regional greenway network at the Roanoke River Greenway and supports future connections to the Mill Mountain Greenway, Star Trail, and Blue Ridge Parkway.  The proposed project will build a trail connection from Davenport/Ivywood Street to the connection with the Roanoke River Greenway at Riverland Road.   Garden City lacked continuous pedestrian infrastructure.  Under a recent Safe Routes to School grant, the first phase of the Greenway was constructed between Yellow Mountain Road and Davenport/Ivywood Streets.  Bids were recently opened to build a bridge that is critical to the connection of the Garden City Greenway with the Roanoke River Greenway.  Completion of the Garden City Greenway trail to connect between the bridge and the Safer Routes to School project is anticipated in late 2017,
