Planning Commission   
The Commission considers zoning changes (rezonings), amendments to the zoning ordinance, and adoption of plans for the city.  The planning commission page has information on active applications, meeting dates, deadlines, application information and forms.  The Planning Commission does not make final decisions; it makes recommendations to City Council, which makes final decisions.
Board of Zoning Appeals The Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA, for short) considers special exceptions, zoning variances, and appeals of decisions by the zoning administrator.  The BZA page has information on active applications, meeting dates, deadlines, application information and forms.  BZA makes final decisions on applications, but all decisions can be appealed to Circuit Court.
Architectural Review Board The Architectural Review Board (ARB, for short) administers the historic district regulations adopted by City Council to protect the Gainsboro, Old Southwest, and Downtown neighborhoods.  The Board reviews new construction, alterations of existing structures, and demolition of structures for consistency with adopted architectural design guidelines, The Board also provides architectural and design expertise to City Council, City Administration, and other City Boards.
Building and Fire Code Board of Appeals                    
The board considers appeals of decisions by the building official on interpretations of the building code.  The board makes final decisions, but decisions can be appealed to a state board.
