Berglund Center Project Wins Recognition

At a press conference on Jan. 27, 2015, the U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Buildings Challenge recognized the City of Roanoke’s leadership in energy efficiency at the Berglund Center. Roanoke joined the Better Building Challenge in 2012 by committing over 1 million square feet to a 20% energy reduction by 2020. The city’s in-house Energy Team was also commended for a job well done.

The Berglund Center is a Better Building Challenge Showcase Project with an additional commitment to achieve a 30% energy savings. Currently, the Berglund Center has reduced its energy by 24%, positioning well to achieve its goal and saving over $100,000 last year in avoided energy costs. Roanoke is one of the top overall performers in the local government division of the Better Building Challenge.

The City of Roanoke is proud to be a leader in the Better Building Challenge!
